John Abraham Francis HAWKINS was christened 6 Feb 1804 in Denapore, Bengal, India. He was a Judge in the Supreme Court of Calcutta after being a magistrate in (I believe) Baraset. He was a founding member of the Bengal Athletic Club. He married Jan 25 1836 in Calcutta, with Margaret Edmonstone MCLEOD, daughter of Duncan MCLEOD and Henrietta FRIELL. He died May 1 1879 in England where he had retired.
He had a son Robert McLeod HAWKINS who was also born in India, 1839, and eventually became a minister when his plans for life in India did not work out. He married Agnes Charlotte Augusta MARSHALL in Beckenham, Kent, England in 1865.
