Came from Hong Kong but emigrated to New York where he met Veronica. He worked in a Chinese restaurant in Chinatown, Manhattan in NYC.

It is George Quen-chu Chin. His date of birth (according to his tombstone) was 14 March 1900.. He died in June 1980.
Your maternal grandmother was born 1909 (according to Christiana's research) and died 1988.

Notes for Veronica Marie (Spouse 1)
First married to George Chin, later separated and remarried Mr Chew. This marriage did not last, according to Mary probably because he wanted to have children of his own.
Veronica died while in a diabetic coma. I [says Monique] visited her with Aunt Helen and my mother while James and I were living in NYC.(having moved to NYC in Dec.1985), so visited her in hospital some time after that.
I’d heard my father tease my mother about being a Chew (?spelling) while we were living in Africa, so on separate occasions I asked both Aunt Helen and mother Mary how come her maiden name is down as being Chevinsky and where does the Chew fit in? I learnt that Veronica had first married George Chin and had her 4 children but divorced him and told the children that their father was dead. Not sure if this happened when she discovered that he had a Chinese wife and son back in Hong Kong and was regularly sending them money. So she had all 4 children change their surname to Chew (?spelling) when she remarried. When Mr Chew left she then changed their names as well as her own back to her maiden name of Chevinsky. Aunt Helen pointed out though that by then she was a newly wed (think she got married at the age of 16) and so she never took the name of Chevinsky. My mother was born a Chin, changed to Chew, then Chevinsky and then her married name Bahizi.
