Notes for Gervais Protais Kirema (Spouse 1)
Kirema was a title, meaning chief, or something similar. His first marriage to the Ndeze princess was an arranged marriage between the two most important families of the Eastern Congo. They owned the land which later became the Albert Park, now the Virunga [?, Ruwenzori?] National Park.
We know a great deal about his life because we have a copy of his memoires (written in French) which concentrate on his extensive political career. He was the Congolese ambassador to Nigeria, to Britain, and the Congolese ChargĂ© d’Affaires at the United Nations, where he met his second wife.
Expelled from Zaire by Mobutu and soon after murdered in Paris.
His birth date is from his marriage certificate.
