Notes for Charles Lestock Boileau
According to BBB15:
“b at Alcester, Warwicks, 1800. Commissioned 2 Lt 95th Foot (Rifle Bde) 1814 but is shown on returns as 'on leave at the Military College' (Sandhurst) until his 16th birthday. Lt 1821; Capt 1824; Major 1835. No active service. Served in India and in 1833 was extra ADC to the Governor of Madras Presidency, Lt Gen Sir Frederick Adam, whose only dau Amelia he m in Madras in 1833. She d at Bangalore the same year, aged 21.

He m 2nd, in 1836 Margaret, dau of William Stirling and widow of Claudius Kerr, EIC and they had a dau Mary Elizabeth iii. In 1845 this marriage was dissolved (there was a court case in 1844, in which Charles accused Margaret of adultery), and in 1848 he m 3rd, Maria, dau of Edward Denham. There was no issue of this marriage.

He d at Castelnau, Barnes in 1889, and was buried at Little Bookham, Surrey. (See also Section 'Castelnau - Barnes').”

Apparently15, the third wife was his daughter’s former governess, and the rest of the family did NOT approve. Charles went into real estate heavily, and constructed a big sub-development (as it would now be called, I suppose) in the northern part of the borough of Barnes. The names are typical; Castelnau Villas, Castelnau Row, Castelnau Place, and Gothic Cottages. Yuk. In that area there is still a Boileau Road, and road was renamed Castelnau. More details in BBB15
Notes for Emily (Spouse 1)
Daughter of Lieutenant General Sir Frederick Adam29
Notes for Margaret (Spouse 2)
Daughter of William Stirling, and widow of Claudius Kerr, EIC.15

It’s likely her name was actually Seymour, not Stirling. According to Chenda Wakefield, the marriage entry in the parish register in the British Library quite clearly states that Margaret's surname was "Seymour" when she married Claudius,:-"6th November 1828 Claudius Augustus Kerr, Lieut. in the 3rd Regiment Lt Cavalry, Bachelor and Margaret Seymour, Spinster, were married in this St George's church with the permission of the Right Honorable the Governor this day by me, Thos Robinson,..Archdeacon, witnessed by G. T. Walker, Lt. CT, C. Lushington, E.S.Robinson "
Notes for Maria (Spouse 3)
