Notes for Edgar Roydon Norgrove
Ian Melville knew Edgar well. (Kate called him Edward probably by mistake). Like a surrogate grandfather. Called him Uncle Ted.
He was a volunteer fireman, with a day job as a builder. His daughter was Joan (now Joan McNaught) from whom I’ve got a lot of genealogical information.
I presume this is the E. Norgrove who, in the Marlborough Express (7 October, 1916), was reported as being “wounded in the legs, and has embarked for England. Private Norgrove left with the Seventh Reinforcements, and has seen a great deal of trench warfare in France.”
Notes for Mary Ann (Spouse 1)
Auntie May. Scottish. Spoke in a broad accent and had a big bosom and a large arse (according to Mum). Always wore a pinny.
According to Kate
50, Mary Ann had come from Scotland with her family.
