Notes for Algy Vernon Neal
Named after famous Australian cricketers, Algy Gears and Vernon Ransford. I remember Uncle Algy a little bit. As a child I was fascinated by how he ate leeks in white sauce. I hated them, and yet he attacked them with such enthusiasm. Slurping noises and all. I would sit and watch, enthralled. He was a large man, very strong, with a deep voice, sort of burry as I remember.
Details and descendants in [BC]
47. One daughter was Helen, another was Glenis. Mum’s cousins I suppose. We visited Helen once on a farm somewhere, when I was quite young. I remember nothing more about them, except that Mum would often talk about them. Oh, and Colin was a son also. He visited us once, much to everybody’s amusement. Tighter than a duck’s arse (to use Mum’s phrase). Oh boy, I remember that visit. It went down into family lore.
