Notes for Herbert Henry Cecil Graham
Served as sub-Lieut. R.N.V.R. and was later a Special Commissioner of Taxes. [GEC]25 says he had no children.

The Record of Old Westminsters, 1927, Vol. 1, says that he was the son of Thomas Henry Boileau Graham, of Walm Lane, Cricklewood, Middlesex, Barrister. Born 8 July 1896, admitted 28 April 1910, left July 1912 served in the Great War as sub-Lieut R.N.V.R., July 8, 1918. And that his brother was Eric Charles. So this is all consistent with everything else we know.

However, his death notice (Kent and Sussex Courier, 4 August, 1950) mentions no family at all. No parents, no spouse, no children. The list of people at his funeral contains no Grahams at all, and he was not called Graham of Edmond Castle. Edmond Castle was not mentioned at all.

In his probate records it says that he died at the Lonsdale Nursing Home, Tunbridge Wells. Probate administrators were his widow, Katherine Helen Graham, and his brother Eric Charles. He had 32,000 pounds, so he wasn’t poor.

But why did he not get Edmond Castle when his father died? Well, see the entry for his father. It appears that poor old HHC Graham was actually illegitimate when he was born, and so couldn’t inherit.
