18Chev. governor of the Chateau Stenay. Sgr. de la Touche, in Touraine. This family came originally from the Bourbonnais.
He lived in the parish of Chillé, near Chinon. He and his brother, René de La Valette, Sgr. de La Brosse, living at St. Laurent-du-Lin, near Angers, maintained their noblesse since the year 1532, commencing with their grandfather, in 1668.

There are lots and lots of de la Valette in C-D, but I can’t find a Sgr. de la Touche, or de la Brosse, and the coat-of-arms seems quite different. In addition, the ones in C-D go back a long way, which doesn’t square with the information in Lart that they were a recently ennobled family. So Pierre must have been from a quite different family I think. There are claims on the web that this Pierre de la Valette was directly related to the Valettes in C-D, but C-D doesn’t agree and the claims are highly implausible in my opinion. I think it’s far more likely they were minor, recent, nobility.
