Notes for Jean (iia) Boileau
13Jean Boileau, 2nd Baron went with many other nobles and gentlemen to the succour of the Emperor Sigismund, and was killed at the battle of Nicopolis in 1396.

C-D19 does not cover any of the generations between Jean II and the first Etienne. Presumably he agreed with Lart that the documentation was inadequate.
[C-D, III, 384] “Jean Boileau, II of that name, descended from Etienne, was killed at the battle of Nicopolis, where the Christians fought the Sultan Amurat, on the 28 September, 1396. He was among the 2000 Gentlemen Volunteers who went with the Duc of Nevers to the aid of the Emperor Sigismond. As a consequence of this Crusade he was ordered by the Duc to carry on his arms trois croix en sautoir; he never did this.”
